Upgrade Your Water- Green Tea Lemon Iced Tea
Hello Friends and Enemies,
For round 3 of upgrading our water we’re making Green Tea Lemon Iced Tea. No sweetener, no nonsense- just crisp, refreshing, wellness in a glass. If you’re someone who thinks tea should taste like a melted dessert, this might not be for you. But if you enjoy your beverages bold, refreshing, and clean let’s get into it.
What You’ll Need:
4 green tea bags (the good kind, not the sad, stale ones at the back of your pantry)
4 cups hot water
Juice of 1-2 lemons (depending on how much tartness your soul can handle)
1 cup cold water
Ice
Lemon slices, optional (for aesthetic purposes and pretending you have your life together)
How to Make It:
Steep the tea: Pour hot (not boiling) water over your tea bags and let them sit for 5-7 minutes. Longer if you like it strong, shorter if you fear commitment.
Remove the tea bags and let the tea cool down to room temp. (Patience is a virtue, or just stick it in the fridge.)
Add the lemon juice and stir.
Pour in the cold water to chill things out.
Serve over ice
Garnish with lemon slices if you want to impress absolutely no one but yourself.
Why You’ll Love It:
Refreshing AF – Basically the adult version of lemonade but without the sugar crash.
Hydration with benefits – Green tea is packed with antioxidants, aka the skincare of beverages.
Zero sweetener, zero regrets – No syrup, no honey, no sneaky sugar packets. Just clean, crisp, and slightly bitter (like me before coffee).
If you must sweeten it, I won’t stop you, but I would suggest trying it without first, it may surprise you. Try playing with the amount of lemon and the steeping time first! My perfect combo is 2 lemons and 7 minutes of steeping. You can also try adding a squeeze of fresh orange, this bumps up the sweetness level. Enjoy!
Stay hydrated,
Samm
